不登校の小・中学生が24万人（2022年現在）を超える現代、様々な理由で学校にいけない子どもたちの選択肢が「学校に戻る」だけしかないとしたら、とても苦しいでしょう。しかし、ちょっと立ち止まって考えていただきたいのですが、「学校以外で時間を過ごす」という選択肢があってはいけないのでしょうか？学校に行って勉強をすることは大事かもしれませんが、まずは心と身体が元気になること、そしてそこから自分たちがやりたいことを見つけてはじめて、子どもたちが自分の意思で「何かを学びたい」と思うのではないでしょうか？そのために家庭教育（ホームスクール）、フリースクール、あるいはその他様々な場所で子どもたちが居場所を見つけて、心から笑顔になることを私たちとどまる学園は願っております。

 

　作物の成長には、時間がかかります。肥料と水を与え、まわりの雑草をとってあげて、そこに太陽がサンサンと降り注ぎ、ゆっくりと成長していきます。それが歯痒くて芽を引っ張ったとしても、早く成長することはありません（そんなことをしたら、むしろ枯れてしまいます）。辛抱強く待つことで花を咲かせ、ついには実をならせるのです。

子どもたちの成長も、同じではないかと思われます。それゆえ、とどまる学園では作物

                                                                にとっての肥料と水である、子どもたちの心と身体の栄養を与えることに重点を置き、

                                                                一人一人の「生きる力」を育てることを目標としています。

 

 There are about 240,000 elementary and junior high school students who are unable to attend school for different reasons in Japan. It must be rough for them if they have no choice but to go back to school. But we, Todomaru gakuen’s staff, think they have so many choices. To choose other path, like homeschooling, free school and so on, they need to be healthy both mentally and physically first. After that, they will get motivated and can choose which path they want to go to do what they want to do. Because of that, we cherish their smile.

 

 Crops take time to grow. We fertilize,water them and need to pick weeds. Then　the sun shines down on them.Even if we pulled them, they don’t grow soon(Or rather, they will wither!) We have to wait for their growth. We think that also applies to child’s growth. Therefore, we focus on encouraging children and waiting for their growth.

 

 

 

 

とどまる学園の”とどまる”は、

ギリシャ語のメノー〔μενω〕という、言葉からとりました。

（ヨハネの福音書8章31節）

 

この メノー〔μενω〕ということばには、

 

ひとつめに、滞在する、住む

【自分の居場所を見出す幸い】

ふたつめに、存続する、続ける

【継続は力を体験する幸い】

みっつめに、待ち続ける

【希望がある】

 

という意味があります。

 

とどまる学園は、イエス・キリストが「わたしにとどまりなさい」と言った、

この言葉を大切に、子どもたちの宝を見つけられる学園でありたいと願っています。

 

 

 

 

The name of ‘Todomaru’ comes from the Greek word, ‘μενω’. It has three meaning.

 

1.to stay, to live  → happiness for students to find place where they belong.

2.to continue  　　 → happiness for students to have a experience of ‘persistence pays off’

3.to wait              →　Students find a hope.

 

 

Cherishing the word from the Bible, John15:4, ‘Abide in me’, we hope to find the treasures which

each student has in their heart together.
